🇺🇸 Version of the proposal working with your feedback and rewording in order to be ready for the onchain vote.
We have modified the summary, the description of option B in parts 3 and 4 of the proposal as well as the budget part.
You can make your comments, if it is ok then we modify the first post of the subject
Title:
[PROPOSAL] - Selection of distribution method for REG tokens from revaluations
Summary:
This proposal aims to determine the distribution method for REG tokens resulting from RealToken revaluations. Two options are presented: the initial direct distribution system and a conversion system similar to SOON tokens.
You will vote for the proposal if you wish to implement option B; otherwise, by voting no, you will get system A by default for a minimum period of 6 months.
Motivation:
It is crucial to choose a distribution system that is equitable, transparent, and efficient, while taking into account the advantages and disadvantages of each approach for the Realtoken ecosystem.
Context:
After the implementation of the SOON converter, new house revaluations that have never been revalued see a newly created REG budget, adding to the existing supply.
This REG inflation aims to reward property owners who have invested in tokenized assets, encouraging them to maintain their investments, and allow newcomers to access the DAO without having to invest.
This also allows for better distribution of voting power over time to limit power concentration within the DAO.
Option A: Initial direct distribution system (proposed by RealT)
- Conversion of dollar amount to REG at market price at the time of distribution
- Direct distribution to beneficiaries' wallets at their rent payment address
Option B: On-demand conversion system with automatic claim
- Extension of the SOON to REG conversion system for future distributions
- Use of a merkle tree for managing conversion rights
- Automatic claim option available in RealT account
- Automatic conversion to REG by administrator after vault update for users who have activated the option
Comparison of options:
Option A (Initial System):
Advantages:
- Simple to implement and use
- Transparency on inflation and distributions
- Prevents price manipulation
- Smooths the value of received REG over time
Disadvantages:
- Systematic REG emission, even for inactive users
Option B (On-demand conversion system with automatic claim):
Advantages:
- Potentially limits the number of REG issued
- Allows beneficiaries to choose between manual or automatic claim
- Possible automation for users who want it
- Simplifies distribution for RealT
Disadvantages:
- Risks related to market manipulation
- Initial complexity for automatic system setup
- Complexity in understanding the option for newcomers
- Difficulty in quantifying inflation
- Complexity in applying voting rights to uncreated REG
Important note:
If the proposal is rejected, option A will automatically be implemented for a minimum period of 6 months. After this period, the DAO can vote again for a new proposal to modify the REG distribution method.
Implementation steps:
- Community vote to choose between options A and B
- Development or adaptation of necessary smart contracts
- Smart contract audit
- Implementation of chosen system
- Community communication about the new system
Team:
- RealT technical team for development and implementation
Budget:
Option A: $0
Option B: $5,000 to $10,000 (development, testing, automation implementation)
Financial implications:
- Development and audit costs for smart contracts
- Potential impact on REG inflation and value depending on chosen option
Roadmap:
- Forum discussion: 7 days minimum
- DAO vote: 7 days
- Queue: 2 days
- Development and audit: 4-6 weeks
- Launch: Date to be determined based on next revaluation
Success metrics:
- Vote participation rate
- Community satisfaction with chosen system
- Efficiency and transparency of future distributions
- Impact on REG price stability
Mission alignment:
This proposal aligns with the Realtoken DAO mission by seeking to optimize REG distribution and strengthen participatory governance of the ecosystem.
As REG belongs to the DAO, giving choice on the distribution method is an important point for DAO governance.
Key terms:
- REG: Governance token of the Realtoken DAO
- SOON: Temporary token representing $1 in value
- Merkle tree: Data structure used for efficient rights verification
Points to discuss before final proposal creation:
- Potential impact of each option on REG value and liquidity
- Security mechanisms to prevent abuse in the conversion system
- Frequency and method of merkle tree updates (for option B)
- Analysis of long-term impact on REG tokenomics
