Proposal Summary:
This proposal aims to clarify and validate an extended authority framework for the Realtoken DAO, specifying its specific responsibilities, including fund management, RMMv3 revenues, incentive epochs, and certain critical functions related to RMMv3.
Motivation:
Clarifying and extending the DAO's responsibilities is crucial for:
- Ensuring transparent and efficient management of funds and revenues
- Clearly defining governance and proposal processes
- Preparing the DAO to assume critical functions related to RMMv3
- Establishing a solid foundation for the future evolution of the DAO's responsibilities
Context:
Until now, RealT inc. has been managing the funds and revenues of the Realtoken DAO, creating ecosystem applications, costs related to contract creation, contract maintenance, etc.
To increase transparency, trust, and sustainability of the ecosystem, the DAO must progressively take over RealT inc.'s responsibilities for the onChain ecosystem
Management of ecosystem funds and revenues:
- Responsibility for DAO funds
- Management of revenues currently coming from RMMv3
Incentive epochs:
Governance contracts and processes:
Critical functions of RMMv3:
Limitations:
- The DAO cannot directly manage Realtokens for legal reasons
- Confirmation needed from RealT for any changes affecting Realtokens in their use within the ecosystem
- Contracts not mentioned above are still managed and under the responsibility of RealT inc.
The DAO can at any time make a proposal with a buyout offer for contracts under RealT inc.'s responsibility, this offer aims to pay for the development costs incurred by RealT inc.
New developments after NFTs (Citizen, Activity, and Collector) will be directly managed by the DAO, development will be subject to a proposal and a vote by the DAO.
Implementation Steps:
- DAO vote to validate the extended authority framework
- Implementation of necessary processes and tools
- Community training on new responsibilities
- Progressive transition of responsibilities from RealT to the DAO
- Implementation of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms
Team:
- RealT technical team for the initial transition
- The DAO for ongoing management
Budget:
Mainly operational costs related to setting up new processes and training, for actions involving a cost, a proposal must be made for the DAO to approve the budget.
Financial Implications:
- Development costs for new management tools
- Budget for community training and engagement
- Potential cost for buying back applications from RealT inc.
Roadmap:
- Discussion and definition of responsibilities on the forum (time needed)
- Community vote: 7 days
- Queue: 1 day
- Process implementation: 4-8 weeks
- Community training: 2-4 weeks
- Responsibility transition: progressive over 3-6 months
Objectives:
Clarify the extended authority framework of the Realtoken DAO for phase 1, the framework once implemented and finalized can be reviewed and extended for phase 2.
Eventually, the DAO will become fully autonomous and responsible for the ecosystem, allowing it to decide and manage the functioning of applications as well as all aspects related to the ecosystem.
The decentralization of the ecosystem will allow for better sustainability of the ecosystem, greater transparency, greater trust, and greater stability.
Success Metrics:
- Participation rate in votes on new responsibilities
- Efficiency of fund and revenue management
- Success of incentive epochs managed by the DAO
- Effective management of RMMv3 critical functions
Alignment with Mission:
This extended authority framework aligns with the Realtoken DAO's mission to create decentralized and effective governance, while progressively assuming crucial responsibilities for the ecosystem.
Key Terms:
- RMMv3: Realtoken Money Market v3
- Incentive Epoch: Defined period of incentives for DAO participation
- Burn: Permanent destruction of tokens
Points to Discuss Before Creating the Final Proposal:
Coordination process with RealT for decisions affecting Realtokens
Frequency and format of reports on fund and revenue management
Criteria for activating future incentive epochs
Process for reviewing and adjusting DAO responsibilities
Necessary training for DAO members on new responsibilities
Communication strategy to inform the community about new responsibilities
Contingency plan in case of issues related to new critical functions
